Blue Light Computer Glasses, Why Do I Wear Them?
Content Index
I'm going to share my personal opinion and experience regarding the use of blue light blocking computer glasses, which I have decided to use to protect my sight during long working hours.
1. My Vision Condition and Motivation
A. Perfect Vision
The first thing I must clarify is that I do not have any pathology or vision problem (nearsightedness, farsightedness, etc.). I used to have problems as a child, but they disappeared.
- No Excessive Fatigue: I also don't experience excessive visual fatigue when spending long hours in front of the computer, which puts me in an average case.
B. The Risk Factor
I decided to try these glasses motivated by the case of an acquaintance (the "Mr. T" mentioned in another video), who, starting in his 30s/40s, began to experience serious vision problems, including an increase in "floaters" that became "marked" on his vision.
- Potential Risks: Although the scientific community has divided opinions on the direct damage of blue light, some theories suggest that prolonged exposure can be a risk factor for more serious problems, such as retinal detachment.
- My Concern: I work in front of the computer all day, often starting at 5 in the morning when all the light is artificial. This, compared to working with natural light, made me consider preventive protection.
2. Acquisition and Cost
I decided to try the most affordable option to start:
Purchase: I bought a pair of glasses on Amazon for a very low price (around $15 to $20), looking for those with good ratings.
Recommendation: I am not recommending a particular brand. If you are interested in trying them, a simple search like "blue light computer glasses" will show you many economical options. (If you are looking for higher-end options, you can research the products of "Mr. T" on the Tecnonauta channel).
3. ✨ Conclusions and Benefits
Once my context is explained and after constantly using them (except when I record face-to-face videos):
Visual Relaxation: Normally, after several hours in front of the computer, a certain visual fatigue is felt. With these glasses, I have noticed much greater relaxation. I no longer feel that exhaustion at the end of the day.
Feeling of Improvement: Although they do not solve a problem that already exists, I have felt an improvement in the aspect of fatigue.
Final Conclusion: Due to their low cost and the immediate benefit of feeling my eyes more relaxed, I believe they are worth using. It is a form of short-term protection (greater comfort) and, potentially, long-term prevention against problems like those experienced by Mr. T with floaters.
